Here's the problem: I'm writing a paper on the Industrial Revolutions in Britain and how the role of women changed during them, but now that I'm working on it I'm curious if it's bad form to switch between saying 'England' and 'English' and 'Britain' and 'British'. I always imagined when you said Great Britain it included Scotland (I could be wrong) and I guess I'm worried about consistency in my paragraphs here. I'm going with one way of referring to it but then my quotes are pretty much fucking of my day.
I guess it'd be like writing about America and saying the 'United States' the 'USA' and 'America' all in the same go.
DOES IT SOUND BAD? I wouldn't even be tripping if I didn't need a decent grade. >:O
ETA Watching TLC and this particular show thought it was necessary to add in subtitles for a grandma speaking with a proper English accent. What.

This has been driving me crazy: what movie is it where Will Ferrell rocks an eye patch and cheesy pipe?

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute. Since when were they working there? Since when were they dating him/her? Since when?" And you wonder how you could have missed all of that seemingly standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification, because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes. Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One word answers seldom help anyone out. ( Read more... )

Haha, this one is definitely directed at Lou and Nat:
The new Batman they have where Dick becomes Batman and Bruce's kid takes over as Robin, what series is it from? D: I want to check it out but all the art I've seen never says what series/issues it's being serialized in.
I imagine ya'll would be keeping up on it D: Help!

Pyro, Shadowcat, and Iceman in the manga retelling of X-Men. I flipped through it today at B&N and let me tell you, it looks terrible and yet kind of amazing. I...will probably buy it just for the lulz. (EDIT) The summary is just fantastic and horrible. Like really, really horrible.
"Marvel's mutants in a radical remix! Kitty Pryde has always been the odd girl out. A mutant, she was born with strange superpowers, magical talents that make her the class freak. But Kitty's world is changed when she's invited to study at Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a special home for mutant teens. There's just one catch: Kitty's the only girl at the all-boy school, and she ends up just feeling like a freak all over again."
( Apparently other characters include: Beast (Totoro) and Nightcrawler (Some Vampire Knight rip off)... )

I cannot decide for the life of me what I'm going to do with Persephone but I am so excited for this game that I don't even care! I almost feel like I can call it 'studying' considering I'm taking a Greek Mythology course. (Shh, I know it doesn't work like that, but I don't care!)
